Helping Those in Need Get Back to Success
Everyone’s journey looks different. For some, it begins with a hot meal or a safe place to sleep. For others, it starts with the decision to make a lasting change. At the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, we know that overcoming homelessness, addiction, or other life challenges takes more than meeting immediate needs. It takes support, encouragement, and opportunities to build a new future. That is exactly what our Gateway and New Life programs are designed to provide. Through recovery services, housing assistance, and vocational training opportunities, we help individuals take meaningful steps toward stability and independence. Programs That Look Beyond Recovery and Rehabilitation
Recovery is not the same for everyone. Some people are working to overcome addiction. Others are rebuilding after years of homelessness or difficult life circumstances. No matter where someone is starting, our goal is to meet them with compassion and help them move forward. Our Gateway and New Life programs provide a structured, supportive environment where participants can focus on personal growth while developing the tools they need for long-term success. Participants in these programs will receive guidance from caring staff while working toward healthier habits, greater personal responsibility, and a renewed sense of purpose. Every person’s path is unique, but no one has to walk it alone.
Building Skills for the Future
One of the things that makes these programs unique is their focus on practical life skills and vocational development. At the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, we believe lasting change happens when people are given both encouragement and opportunity. Through the Gateway program, we help those in need to develop critical skills, a strong work ethic, and confidence through hands-on work experience. Designed as a secular program, the Gateway program was designed to help participants prepare for life beyond the Mission. Along the way, participants have opportunities to grow personally while developing habits that support long-term independence. These experiences help prepare them for employment, stable housing, and the responsibilities that come with living independently.
Growing in Every Area of Life
Recovery involves much more than finding a job or a place to live. It also means growing emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. That is why our New Life program focuses on the whole person. Designed with a faith-based approach, participants in the New Life program are encouraged to build healthy routines, strengthen relationships, and develop confidence through faith. By offering housing assistance, case management, and recovery programs, we help those in need to rebuild their lives. As individuals progress through the program, many discover strengths they did not know they had. They begin setting goals, celebrating milestones, and looking ahead with optimism. Watching someone rediscover hope is one of the greatest privileges of the work we do.
A Community That Walks Alongside You
One of the most valuable parts of our Gateway and New Life programs is the sense of community they create. Lasting change is easier when people know they have support. Through the Gateway and New Life programs, participants are surrounded by staff members, mentors, and fellow participants who encourage one another every step of the way. That community creates an environment where people can grow, ask for help, celebrate progress, and continue moving forward together. Every success story begins with someone deciding they are ready for a different future. We are honored to be part of that journey.
Hope Starts with One Step
At the Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to start again. Our Gateway and New Life programs exist to help individuals move beyond crisis and begin building a life filled with purpose and possibility. Through our vocational, recovery, and assistance programs, participants gain the support and structure they need to pursue lasting change. While every journey is different, the goal remains the same: helping people build a stronger future for themselves and their families. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our community. Financial donations and dedicated volunteers help us continue providing programs that change lives every day.
If you believe in giving people the opportunity for a fresh start, we invite you to partner with us and share your time, your experience, or your resources with those in need. Together, we can continue offering new beginnings and a second chance to our neighbors throughout the Coachella Valley.
