Giving thanks for YOU
Brandi has a NEW LIFE this Easter!
When Brandi was adopted as a child, she thought she’d found a safe home. But when her mother passed away, Brandi was mistreated by her brother for a decade. “The trauma harmed my emotional health deeply, and my ability to be in relationships.”
In high school, Brandi turned to substances to numb her pain, which led to her father kicking her out of the house. “I was homeless at 18,” she recalls. “By 25 I was an addict, and then I became pregnant with my son.”
While pregnant, Brandi got sober, but after giving birth, the pain of her past drove her back to substances. Eventually, CPS intervened and took custody of her son. “Losing him was my rock bottom. I had nowhere to go, and nothing left to my name.”
Driven by love for her son, Brandi committed to sobriety, and after two years of clean living she got custody of him back. She needed to rebuild a life for them both, and that’s when she came to our door.
“I needed a safe and stable environment… I knew this was the right place.”
In our Women and Children’s program, Brandi found the healing, hope and love that she had craved since childhood. “It felt like family… and I felt safe.” She also began building a relationship with Jesus. “I had a mustard seed of faith when I got here. It is growing, and God is healing me.”
Brandi’s plans for the future are bright. “I’m getting the resources I need to get back into school and to pursue a career.” Her goal is to become a phlebotomist and eventually move so that she and her son can be closer to her family.
This Easter, Brandi is experiencing the gift of new life! She has been transformed and empowered to begin her next chapter – thanks to your support! “The Mission has helped me heal and overcome my fears, my worries and my self-doubts. I know that I can give it to God and He will continue to heal me.”
